Keep your battery cool. Keep vents clear, and don’t place your laptop on top of a pillow that can trap heat.
- Don’t pack your laptop in a carry case or backpack while it is still hot – allowing it to cool first will prevent it from getting too hot, and bags can trap the heat.
- Don’t charge your laptop constantly.
- If you usually use your laptop at your desk, exercise the battery once or twice a month by letting it drain completely and then recharging.
- If you physically remove the battery from your laptop, it’s best to do so when it’s 40 to 50% charged. Don’t store a laptop battery that is fully charged or fully depleted.
